Where Eindhoven Mapped began
A short note from the two people behind the map.
Eindhoven Mapped grew out of a group of enthusiastic city-makers working within the Stadsmakersprogramma (a city-makers programme) to build stronger connections in the Tongelre neighbourhood. Along the way we noticed how readily people share stories about the places that mean something to them. Something like a favourite walking route or a square where they meet friends. Online, this turned out to be a surprisingly powerful way to bring people together.
People don't just want to tell their own story, they want to discover which places matter to everyone else.
The challenges we ran into during our Stadsmaker challenge led to a new insight: people don't just want to tell their own story, they want to discover which places matter to everyone else. That gave us the idea for an online platform built around meaningful places. Somewhere residents can both share and find stories.
Eindhoven Mapped is also for people new to the city. It offers a glimpse of how Eindhoven is really experienced, and where the good spots are.
We hope Eindhoven Mapped does its small part to connect the city, for the people who live here now and the ones still to come.

Hi, I'm Jordan
I'm the one who builds this site.
By day I'm an AI and full-stack developer at YieldComputer. I studied software engineering at Fontys, here in Eindhoven, and I live a few minutes down the road in Helmond.
For me, Eindhoven may not be my home, but because I studied here and work here, I feel at home. That's something I also want to give to the residents of Eindhoven. The idea that someone who has just moved here can get to know the city through Eindhoven Mapped and feel at home in Eindhoven, that's what I love about this project.
